Cisco terminates its prestigious CCSP and CCVP certification brands

In the past, I've documented the mess (at least in my opinion) that Cisco has made of its highly prestigious CCIE certification program.
Well, one way to cover-up a mess is to make an even bigger mess!
And that certainly appears to be what the folks at Cisco have achieved.
How so you mask ask?
Today, Cisco announced that its terminating its prestigious CCSP and CCVP certification brands. Demonstrating in my personal opinion the kind of hubris that eventually leads to failure, anybody remember Digital Equipment Corporation or Wang Laboratories ?
Revealing Cisco's hubris at its best, Cisco's press release contains no quotes from individuals currently holding Cisco's CCSP or CCVP certifications. In my opinion, that demonstrates Cisco could care less how its certification changes affect the professionals who've already earned its certs, for example:
