Cisco's the worst performing stock on the world famous Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) Almost 2 years ago I blogged that Cisco might be selected to become a component of the world famous Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA). Not unexpectedly, on June 8, 2009 Cisco finally did become a component of the Dow. In the meantime, fast-forward to the most recent stock market close, which would have been Friday, January 14, 2011: Over the most recent 1-year time period ending on January 14, 2011, Cisco became the worst performing stock on the world famous Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA). So how did Cisco earn this dubious distinction? Well in my opinion, anyone reading my blog would already know first-hand how Cisco had achieved its dubious stock performance on the Dow. Nevertheless, don't take my word for it, let's verify for ourselves Cisco's dubious stock performance by examining below the stock price performance vs. Cisco over the past year, for each of the 30 companies that actually comprise the world famous Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA): 1. 3M (MMM) vs. Cisco (CSCO) 1-year stock price comparison chart

However, keep in the mind that normally the stock symbol "DOW" is used for the Dow Chemical Company, but not in the comparison below where the symbol "DOW" means the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA).
