Well, an Arista 7304 would be a much better choice if they want a similar form-factor and ability to expand. If they just need 48-ports and its about performance, I would angle on an Arista 7050T or Arista 7050S (Copper or SFP respectively).

Today on the Cisco Support Community , a reader inquired about replacing a Cisco Catalyst 6504 with a Cisco Nexus 5548 , and/or an alternate cost effective solution:
