$125K entry level street price for Cisco application centric infrastructure (ACI) "I'd be very curious to see any other solution meet that on just the hardware."

Update 6/2/2014:
"Gents, the price I described not only includes licensing, but also the controller appliance cluster. For the hardware alone in NXOS vs. ACI mode, your price would be lower. In this mode it's a fantastic access/aggregation switch (core in some cases). In this mode it can also work with OpenFlow, OnePK, Chef/Puppet automation, etc. The bundles in that case would be different, currently either in pairs of ToR switches or modular chassis bundles.

Earlier today, Cisco's Nexus 9000 and application centric infrastructure (ACI) technical marketing engineer, Joe Onisick, revealed:
"Proprietary is a stretch with a system that integrates based on IETF standards, and relies on VxLAN, IP, IS-IS, and BGP under the hood. 'Complexity' is very subjective, networks are complex, ACI looks to simplify that through application business logic automating network infrastructure. It is a far cry from how we deploy networks today, but that's the point.
"High pricing is just dead wrong. Our solution meets or beats the pricing of just about anything out there.
"The entry level Average Street price (ASP) we quote publicly is $125K US. That gets you the controller cluster, licensing, 2x 9396 leaf switches (48x full-rate 1/10G ports & 12x40G uplinks), and 2x 9336PQ spine switches (35x 40G line-rate.) All within that average take home price.
"I'd be very curious to see any other solution meet that on just the hardware. From a compute and storage point of view there will always be solution advantages working with other Cisco data center gear, but we integrate with any storage and compute."
