From a press release, Reuter's is reporting that Cisco's Guido Jouret has been appointed president of the new Envision Energy global digital innovation lab in Silicon Valley:
The corporate headquarters for Envision Energy is based in Shanghai, China.
Update 5/8/2014 - 4:10pm:
Cisco confirmed the rumor is true.
"His exit was first reported as rumor by blogger Brad Reese, and confirmed to Business Insider by Cisco. A spokesperson told us:
"Cisco can confirm that Guido Jouret, previously VP/General Manager of Cisco's Internet of Things (IoT) business unit, is leaving Cisco to pursue a new opportunity. Cisco Senior Vice President Rob Soderbery, who oversees Cisco's enterprise networking and IoT groups, will assume direct leadership of the group."
"He evaluates new product and market opportunities, ensures architectural tie-in between the emerging technologies and Cisco's core products, and is responsible for developing and communicating Cisco's thought leadership on Internet of Things technologies."
Additionally, according to Cisco's official list, Jouret had 702 direct reports.
Interestingly, in the below video at the 40 second time mark, Guido Jouret tries to seriously explain the strategy of Cisco's Internet of Things (IoT), but unfortunately, he gets totally bushwhacked by the highly annoying Cisco PR Hack, Lauren Friedman:
Is it alarming to have the general manager of Cisco's Internet of Things (IoT) bolt?
"The Internet of Everything is the biggest market opportunity ahead encompassing every technology trend in the market today. In recent months the Internet of Everything has become the center of most every conversation with CEOs, industry and country leaders. 2014 will be the inflection point for the Internet of Everything."
