Prediction: Soni Jiandani will be appointed Cisco CEO in May 2014 Fortunately for Cisco's shareholders, with her formidable technical chops Soni Jiandani will have no problem explaining why the cannibalization of existing product sales is a good message that Wall Street should be very thankful and happy to hear.

Network World: Chambers to retire this fall?
"Cisco CEO John Chambers may retire this fall amidst a massive reorganization that could lop tens of thousands of employees off its workforce."
Update: 4/17/2014 - 11:07am
Forbes speculates that Cisco's next CEO will be either Robert Lloyd, Padmasree Warrior, Chuck Robbins, Pankaj Patel or Edzard Overbeek.
I predict that before Cisco's Q3'FY14 earnings conference call on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, Cisco will appoint Soni Jiandani as the new CEO, replacing John Chambers.
Naturally, Chambers will remain Cisco's Chairman of the Board.
So why am I making this audacious prediction?
Because a perfect storm has arrived making the timely appointment of Soni Jiandani as Cisco's new CEO highly advantageous and beneficial to John Chambers.
Key points of the perfect storm:
Soni Jiandani is the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Cisco's Insieme business unit, or "INSBU," a Cisco spin-in.
Prior to Insieme, Soni Jiandani was the Senior Vice President for the Server Access Virtualisation Technology Group at Cisco. In this capacity, she was responsible for the development and implementation of the Cisco-wide strategy for data centre access and virtualisation solutions including Unified Computing System and Unified Fabric (Nexus portfolio).
Jiandani was previously co-founder and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships for Nuova Systems (a Cisco spin-in). She was responsible for the development and implementation of marketing, technology partnerships and sales strategy programs for this data centre transformation focused start-up.
While at Cisco, she has played key roles in creating and executing strategic initiatives and driving product marketing development in the LAN switching arena. She was Vice President and General Manager of Cisco's LAN and SAN switching business unit within the Data Centre, Switching and Wireless Technology Group. In this capacity, she was responsible for the industry leading Catalyst modular switches and a comprehensive portfolio of intelligent MDS SAN switches.
Soni Jiandani also served as Vice President of Marketing for the Cisco Internet Systems Business Unit and Vice President, Marketing for the Workgroup Business Unit. Her contributions enabled Cisco to secure its leadership position in Ethernet LAN switching.
Prior to her tenure at Cisco, she was a marketing executive at UB Networks where she was responsible for Virtual LANs and LAN switching market development. She also took on a sales role as Regional Manager, developing markets for the company in India. Prior to UB Networks, she drove numerous market development programs at Novell.
Soni Jiandani holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from London University in England.
