I've got to admit that I'm personally fascinated by the superb talent at Cisco. So when a distinguished alumnus of Cisco creates a new business, well, you can be sure I'll be spotlighting it here on BradReese.Com , for example:
Former Cisco senior strategist, Mark Leary , has launched the New Hampshire based software-defined networking advisory service, The First Tracks .
An 11-year Cisco veteran, he joined Cisco upon its May 5, 2000 acquisition of content switching platform vendor, ArrowPoint Communications , for $5.7 billion in Cisco stock (view his biography ).
In my opinion, Leary authored some of the best Cisco blog stories . One of my favorites was the Top Ten IOS Services You Should Be Using Now!
First Tracks' advisory service is focused on software-defined networking :
"Where the network adapts without intervention, repairs without interruption, protects without instruction, and, most importantly, delivers maximum value without continual and costly investment."
Planned vendor profiles include Nicira , Big Switch Networks and Embrane .
The Changing Role of Software in Networks
First Tracks' sample newsletter #1 :
"Software-defined networking (SDN) offers network operators a way to break the cycle of constant and costly hardware upgrades."
First Tracks' sample newsletter #2 :
"Why is SDN the answer...? It comes down to the following five network advancements that determine the success of SDN - and SDN solutions."
