Cisco's army of certified network engineers, channel partners and huge base of installed customers will be leading the charge to work, champion and upgrade to hardware, software and services that both complement and compete with Cisco.
I had a second meeting in Manhattan last week with the top executives of perhaps Cisco's most formidable and financially successful competitor.
And here's my take from that meeting:
Cisco's business model is about to be disrupted.
How so?
Well, in the not too distant future, Cisco's army of certified network engineers will be able to better advance their careers by working with hardware, software and services that both complement and compete with Cisco, while simultaneously enjoying better personal satisfaction.
Cisco's channel partners will become the biggest champions of hardware, software and services that both complement and compete with Cisco. Why? Because it will be more financially and entrepreneurially rewarding for them to do so.
Cisco's huge base of installed customers will be leading the charge to upgrade to hardware, software and services that both complement and compete with Cisco. Why? Because their business operations will be more successful.
Perhaps it would be an understatement to say that I'm excited about the future!
