BradReeseCom has learned that a key takeway from the Wells Fargo meeting was that Cisco is now actively considering external candidates to replace Cisco CEO John Chambers.
That's the good news!
So what's the bad news?
Well, Chambers will continue to remain as Cisco's Chairman following the appointment of an external candidate as Cisco's new CEO.
Personally, I believe Cisco's Board of Directors should choose a new non-executive Chairman in order to replace Chambers control of Cisco entirely, once a new CEO is appointed.
This good corporate governance practice significantly increased the shareholder wealth of The Hershey Company when it replaced its Chairman and CEO Rick Lenny, with a new non-executive Chairman and a separate new CEO:
